Portrait & Propaganda

This is my Portrait and Propaganda Poster project. This is my absolute favorite project I've created. The picture I used was a selfie I took was of me in a wig that I usually use for cosplay. The wig gives me a lot of confidence that I usually don't have. Cosplaying is one of my favorite activities because I get to display my creativity and talent with costumes and makeup. My Propaganda poster is about being black in the cosplay community. Many black cosplayers are looked down upon and made fun of for "not being the accurate skin color". This makes a lot of black coplayers and cosplayers of color in general, myself included, feel less appreciated in the cosplay community. They feel like they can't cosplay certain characters just because of how they look. My poster is for all of the black cosplayers who feel like they aren't beautiful. I just wanted to share that black coplayers are beautiful and can cosplay whatever character they want because the characters are fictional.

Logo

This logo project was probably one of my favorites. I used a lot of different things from my sketches because they all pertain to me in equal amounts. The book is for my intelligence, the paintbrush for my creativity, the pentacle is for my protectiveness and beliefs, the rainbow because I'm gay, and  the dog paw for my love of animals and compassion. This project took me a total of about 6 hours all together. The different colors have deeper meaning other than the fact they look good together. The yellow in the top left signifies my compassion, energy and warmth that many people say I radiate. The dark pink is my passion for learning and drive to be more than I am right now. The light blue in the pages is for my trustworthiness and calming aura I've been told I give off. The red book cover on the top right displays my passion for everything the symbols represent. The light green pages were added because green is complimentary to red. The last logo has some of the same colors as the first book for some of the same reasons. I added the purple for my creativity and how imaginative I am. I enjoyed this project as it made me think deep about what makes me who I am.

Calligram

My Calligram project is a sunflower made of words from a letter I wrote to my future self. Most of the petals are just simple questions about how life is and the center of the flower are encouraging words meant to uplift and comfort. This project took me two to three hours and I am really proud of how it turned out. My girlfriend helped out with the letter and I'm glad I have her to keep things like this positive. I chose a sunflower because I find them both beautiful and slightly terrifying, much like I see myself. Sometimes I see a beautiful young person in myself and other times I find myself absolutely disgusting and terrifying. I struggle with seeing myself in good light so this project kind of helped with that.

Business Cards

This project was about making business cards using our 3 differently colored logos. My favorite is the first one because of the color scheme...
